Complicated and contradictory processes in the contemporary world are often called globalization. The term comes from the Latin word “globe” which means the Earth sphere as a symbol of human beings identity – cultural, sense-of-value, technological identity. A single informative space is being intensively created nowadays. Actually, we are living in it and our descendants are also will be living in the future. And one of the main factors that strengthens and makes this space work is the language, and specifically – the English language.

There is a stereotype that to learn a high quality English fast one has just to attend the cutting-edge and very expensive English language courses. As current psychological and didactical research shows – this is a myth. To master a high quality English one has to continually stay in the language environment, for example, studying in English. On this point, academic syllabi are considered to be an optimal integration of native educational traditions and every modern western technique, quality of educational product and financial costs for its acquisition. It has to be noticed that mastering academics in English under conditions of globalization leads to acquiring special qualification of higher quality. Moreover, current researchers show us a phenomenon of globalization – it is not obligatory to live in America or Western Europe to have their level of income. Cutting-edge information technologies allow us to work for advanced companies from any part of the world. In other words, one can “go to work” to a New York or London office from his/her own apartment thanks to the Internet network.

It has to be also mentioned, that use of current aircrafts produced by Boeing and Airbus for airlifts carried out by Ukrainian airlines, is favorable to development of education in English.  As long as all the engineering documentation for these aircrafts is written in English, and training of Ukrainian experts in aviation is also performed in English, then English advanced study is becoming of barest necessity. On the other hand, the success of Ukrainian aircraft construction on an air show Le Bourse (France, 2007) has made up relevant the introduction of these aircrafts for the international airlines and high professional popularization of Ukrainian aircraft construction. For sure, experts with advanced knowledge of fluent English for professional and interpersonal use are required.      

Integration into a European educational space has become of high priority for the Ukrainian university educational system. Generally recognized experience in the sphere of international affairs has made National aviation university an advanced university in Ukraine in terms of implementation of the Bologna system requirements and standards the main goal of which is a creation of a single European informative space. The European Credit Transfer System completely complied with the European analogues has been implemented at our University since 2005. Inasmuch as a high level of academic mobility (possibility of training or continuing education at any university in the world) is known to be a characteristic feature of European university education, then education in English becomes a kind of a stepping stone to such exchange experiences. So, students and teachers of English groups are considered as the main candidates for these important and perspective programs.

Directing towards advanced scientific achievements and current educational technologies is a characteristic principal of the academic process structure at NAU. This principal has become an organic part of our University tradition. The language always serves for the sake of something. In our case it serves for the sake of the scientific and research cooperation and dialogs with our foreign colleagues, for the sake of timely access to their advanced developments, for the sake of trainings at advanced universities in the world. According to these mentioned factors, one can assert with confidence that NAU is one of advanced universities on the post-Soviet space. Our teaching staff and students have efficiently been cooperating with universities of Holland and France, the South Korea and China, the USA and Russia, Great Britain and Sweden. Annually scores of students have their training courses abroad and participate in international conferences, seminars and symposia.

More and more students are getting involved into the process of education in English. Because of this tendency, which has continued for the last several years, the number of English-speaking students is being increased. And this is a natural process as fluent English significantly increases ever-growing demand for a specialist at a domestic as well as at an international labor-market. Our graduates, completed their education in English on bachelors and master programs, have felt the results. After all, a proficient language together with a professional training is the key stone to success everywhere – in Ukraine and Russia, in China and France, in the USA and Great Britain.
